HINESVILLE, Ga. — We’ve lined up a special #SICEM17 Facebook Live chat tonight.
UGA 5-star commitment Richard LeCounte III is our guest this week. We’ve established a pattern of hosting live chats with Georgia commitments on Facebook over the last few months and LeCounte will provide an interesting conversation on several fronts:
- He was the first recruit to commit to Kirby Smart at UGA. (He pledged less than a week after Smart was officially hired.
- LeCounte is Georgia’s only 5-star pledge at this time. That makes him the highest-rated commitment for the Class of 2017.
- He will enroll early in January.
- His efforts in recruiting some of the country’s top players to join him have been well-documented on DawgNation.
- Got a question for LeCounte? This forum will provide a great chance to get to know one of Georgia’s top 2017 recruits.
- His off-the-field story is also worth your time. His jersey number pays tribute to two very important people have shaped him during his upbringing.
Follow staff writer Jeff Sentell on Twitter and be sure to like the DawgNation Facebook page to catch the broadcast. The chat with LeCounte is expected to go live at 5:30 p.m. from Hinesville.
The conversation with LeCounte will also draw some awareness to his community and the surrounding areas of Southeast Georgia in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. A trip to visit LeCounte at Liberty County High School on Wednesday morning revealed toppled trees just about everywhere on the roads surrounding the Fort Stewart military base.
LeCounte told DawgNation he took a recent trip to stay with a neighbor that required the use of a chainsaw to cut down four trees. That was necessary to clear debris that had blocked the road. Liberty County is still practicing football every day even though classes have been canceled for the entire week.
The Panthers (5-1) won a rescheduled game on Tuesday night against Tattnall County by a 44-21 margin. They will play against this Saturday at Appling County.
