DawgNation has four staffers who cover the UGA football team from every angle: Beat, live streams, photos, podcasts, recruiting, etc. The Cover 4 aim is simple: 1) Present a topic; 2) Offer a reasoned response; 3) Share a brisk statement to support the informed opinion.

Do you know a good way to get a Georgia Bulldog fan talking this season? Ask them when or even if the Bulldogs have played anywhere close to their peak this season.

Have they? Will they? Do they plan to? When will they need to?

The DawgNation mouth and the staff scribes have their own thoughts about that. Let’s tee up today’s Cover 4 query.

Today’s question: What is the best game that UGA has played so far?

These takes are designed to come out even faster than Georgia and LSU fans can fire up those tailgates on Saturday morning.

What was the best game the Bulldogs have played so far in 2018?

Brandon Adams: South Carolina

DawgNation Daily used the term “brute physicality” to describe his opinion of the South Carolina victory. This photo pretty much sums up what he was talking about. (Curtis Compton/AJC)/Dawgnation)

The why from Adams: That third quarter strangled any hope the Gamecocks might’ve had with brute physicality. Even if South Carolina turns out not to be very good, that performance from UGA was a strong indicator.

Chip Towers: Tennessee

Cover 4 panelist Chip Towers knows the best game that the Bulldogs have played so far this season. He feels it will look a lot smarter as the weeks go by. The fire and ice displayed by David Marshall (left) and Tyson Cambell (right) pretty much sum up the mood after a big stop against the Vols. (Jeff Sentell/DawgNation)/Dawgnation)

The why from Towers Take: Retrospectively, I believe we’re going to look back and see that the Vols were a better team than originally thought.

Mike Griffith: South Carolina

Jake Fromm and Lamont Gaillard are pretty much the beating heart of the UGA offensive leadership so far this season. Mike Griffith thinks that Fromm and Gaillard et al were at their best so far this season in the South Carolina game. (Curtis Compton/AJC)/Dawgnation)

The why from On The Beat: His vision, acceleration and footwork make him a home run threat.

Jeff Sentell: South Carolina

The majority opinion of the Cover 4 panel of this speciific topic was that the effort at South Carolina was the best the Bulldogs have played so far this season. (Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)/Dawgnation)

Why: The youth on this team (68 percent freshmen and sophomores) is prevalent to slow starts, but it seems like the 2018 roster embraces the notion of an opponent billed as a threat. South Carolina had the hype and the Bulldogs seemed ready for it.
