This flew under the radar this weekend with the NFL Combine and UGA picking up two star-studded recruits, but …
Former UGA quarterback Aaron Murray finally got some significant playing time in Sunday’s game for the Atlanta Legends, who is considered to be similar to minor-league football league to the NFL.
And guess what happened with Murray behind center? The Legends won the first game of their inaugural season, and now have a 1-3 record.
Matt Simms, son of former NFL quarterback Phil Simms, made his fourth start in a row on Sunday, but left the game in the first quarter with an undisclosed injury after taking a big hit.
Murray entered the game, and completed 20-of-33 passes, while also leading the team with 54 yards rushing, in a 14-11 win over the Arizona Hotshots.
Murray, 28, is trying to make a professional comeback. He hung around the NFL with four teams over 2014-2017, but did not appear in a regular-season game.
Who knows who this will turn out for Murray? But we do know many Legends fans, who also are UGA fans, will likely be happy with Murray getting some PT. At the previous game, there was a #WeWantMurray movement that involved tweets, fans holding signs, and chants.
