The Auburn football community, including one of the team’s current players, isn’t happy about the stunning decision of George Pickens on Wednesday.

The 5-star receiver from Hoover, Ala., was a longtime commitment of Auburn. On Wednesday’s signing day, Pickens flipped from the Tigers to UGA. It was a huge loss for Auburn. DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell wrote a detailed story about the turn of events.

After hearing the news, Auburn defensive tackle Coynis Miller put out a fiery tweet that was later deleted. It said, in part, “knew this was coming …. Better stop playing and drop the check (…) everybody else doing it.”

247sports.com speculated that Miller “wants the Tigers to place a higher bid for services next time around.”

Miller’s frustration is not surprising, when considering the incredible intensity of the Georgia-Auburn rivalry. There will likely be more public criticism in the days ahead directed at Pickens, who was the No. 1 overall prospect out of Alabama. In fact, UGA signed the top two recruits out of the state of Alabama this year — with the other one being 5-star offensive lineman Clay Webb.

Back to Pickens: The good news for UGA is that he has officially signed his national letter of intent with the Bulldogs.
