ATLANTA — If you’re into the whole gambling thing, the web site Bovada has set optimistic odds for this season on Nick Chubb: The over-under for his total rushing yards is 1,300.5, and for rushing touchdowns it’s 12.5.

And that’s with Chubb still not officially cleared to play in the season opener against North Carolina. In case you hadn’t heard, he and fellow tailback Sony Michel are both uncertain for that game, and head coach Kirby Smart reiterated that when asked on Monday.

“That’s yet to be determined. And it’s going to stay that way for quite awhile, until at least we get through the first or second scrimmage,” Smart said.

But it does remain evident that Chubb is more likely to play. It sounds like he’s pretty much done the physical part of his rehabilitation from knee surgery, which happened last year. Michel, who broke his left arm in early July, has further to go.

“Sony is rehabbing hard, trying to get back out there, and is limited probably more than Nick right now. Where Nick is doing everything he can do,” Smart said. “He’s back to his normal self, when it comes to running, cutting, exercising. But he hasn’t put his pads on, he hasn’t taken a hit, he hasn’t taken that knee brace off yet. So there’s a lot of hurdles when it comes to that for Nick, gaining confidence.”
