DawgNation has four staffers who cover Georgia football from every angle: Beat, live streams, photos, podcasts, recruiting, etc. The “Cover 4” concept is: 1) Present a topic; 2) Offer a reasoned response; 3) Share a brisk statement to support that informed opinion. 4) Pepper the page with photos for the big picture. For this edition, we discuss which parts of the team must amp up their game to beat Florida.
DawgNation continues with the “Cover 4” concept. The focus is always a timely look with each of our guys manning the secondary on a pertinent topic.
The quick in-and-out game remains. It is designed to come out quicker than former Bulldog Nick Chubb scored his third touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens earlier this year.
The latest “Cover 4” question is:
Which is the big area will Georgia will have to “do more” to beat Florida?
Brandon Adams: Havoc Rate
The “why” from “DawgNation Daily” here: “It’s been a big push for UGA’s defense all season, but the results have been mixed. The Bulldogs have gotten pressure on quarterbacks but will probably need to “do more” than that vs. Kyle Trask. They need to actually get him on the ground for a few sacks.”
Mike Griffith: The receiving corps.
The “why” from “On the Beat” here: “It’s a made over group but no one wants to hear excuses eight games into the season. Downfield blocking makes all the difference in the run game, but more than anything, these receivers need to show they know how to get open, catch the football and make yards after the catch. Collectively, this group has failed to measure up to this point. Now, the season is on the line.“
Connor Riley: The receivers
The “why” from “Good Day UGA” here: “The Georgia passing game has struggled coming into this game. Florida is going to play a lot of man coverage. These guys have to win those one-on-one match-ups.“
Jeff Sentell: The defensive line
The Intel here: “There are a lot of areas where UGA must show growth against the Gators. The offensive line as a whole needs to take their performance from just good enough to great. The footwork must improve and they need to operate closer to the limits of their ability. But that’s a talking point. This game will be won or lost by Georgia’s ability to stop the run. If the Gators can’t run the ball, they can’t win. Georgia’s defensive front must be the reason why that doesn’t happen.“
