Georgia basketball let a golden opportunity slip away at Arkansas on Tuesday night, falling to the Razorbacks 70-60.

The Bulldogs out-rebounded Arkansas 56-32 but were undone by horrendous shooting from the floor (19 of 65) and the free-throw line (15 of 29).

Georgia (10-10, 1-6 SEC) hasn’t beaten the Razorbacks (12-8, 3-4) in Bud Walton Arena since 2011.

Nicolas Claxton scored 14 points, and 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Derek Ogbeide also had 14 points and 8 rebounds, but he was just 2-of-11 shooting at the free-throw line.

A William “Turtle” Jackson 3-pointer with 6:23 left tied the game 52-52, but Arkansas hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a 10-2 run that put the game away.

Rayshaun Hammonds had 8 points on 3-of-13 shooting while pulling down a career-high 13 rebounds.

Arkansas held a 31-29 lead at the half despite Georgia out-rebounding the Razorbacks 27-14 through the first 20 minutes.

The Bulldogs had 10 turnovers in the opening half, including one in the final 10 seconds when Jackson threw an errant pass.

Arkansas’ Mason Jones (20 points) came up with the steal and scored in transition with two seconds left in the half to give the Razorbacks their second lead of the game.

Georgia had burst out to an 11-2 lead, Jackson scoring seven points of those points on a 3-pointer and two layups to quiet an uncharacteristically sparse crowd in Fayetteville.

Arkansas didn’t take its first lead until the 5:25 mark when Jones scored on a drive to the basket to make it 22-21.

Georgia was playing without guard Jordan Harris, who missed his second game since suffering a concussion last Wednesday at LSU.

The Bulldogs return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday against South Carolina (10-10, 5-2) in Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia won its most recent outing at home, beating Texas 98-88 last Saturday.
