Jake Fromm is getting another shot at the NFL, as the Detroit Lions announced they have signed the former Georgia quarterback.
The signing comes following an injury to former Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, who suffered a concussion in Detriot’s first preseason game. Jared Goff is Detroit’s starting quarterback, as he led the Lions to the NFC championship game last season.
Fromm was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft after spending three seasons at Georgia. This will be Fromm’s fourth NFL team, as he previously spent time with the Buffalo Bills, New York Giants and Washington Commanders.
Fromm started for three seasons in his time at Georgia, leading the Bulldogs to the national championship game as a freshman during the 2017 season.
Fromm is one of three Georgia quarterbacks on an NFL roster at the moment, with Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett both playing for the Los Angeles Rams. Carson Beck could potentially grow that number next season, with Beck being seen as a candidate to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Detroit’s next game comes on Saturday when the Lions take on the Kansas City Chiefs. Detroit has a third preseason game on Aug. 24, when it takes on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fromm is the only former Bulldog currently on the Detroit roster.
