The battle for 5-star defensive end Bryan Bresee — the No. 1 player in the 2020 class — appears to be intensifying.
DawgNation’s recruiting insider Jeff Sentell explained on Before the Hedges Wednesday that Clemson should be considered a legitimate threat, but the Bulldogs will also have their turn to host Bresee.
A summary of Jeff’s comments are part of today’s edition of DN90.
The key issue for UGA might be when it gets to host Bresee for his official visit. If that visit comes during the season it will be important to note UGA coach Kirby Smart recently described the challenges of hosting official visits on game days.
UGA likes to roll out the so-called red carpet and sell the program as best as it possibly can during official visits for top prospects, but with the challenge of simultaneously focusing on an opponent, creating the best atmosphere for visits isn’t always easy to do.
Georgia dealt with the same issue this past season when it convinced 5-star linebacker Nakobe Dean not to take his UGA official visit for the Vanderbilt game — which was the week before the Bulldogs traveled to LSU.
Ultimately UGA won the battle for Dean, and could still win with Bresee too.
Expect this to be a major storyline to follow in the months ahead.
