Legendary Georgia football coach Vince Dooley is a prolific author, with the focus of most of his books revolving around his life’s work: football and coaching.
Dooley always has had another passion, however: the Civil War. And now, rather than simply reading about the war, Dooley has edited his first book on the subject, entitled The Legion’s Fighting Bulldog. The book chronicles the life and experiences of Lt. Col. William Gaston Delony, a University of Georgia graduate, through the soldier’s own writings. Delony served as Athens’ state representative prior to the war.
Dooley’s book is co-edited with Samuel Norman Thomas Jr. and published by the Mercer University Press.
