Fran Brown is thought of very highly in Athens. And it now seems he’s bringing one of Georgia’s analysts with him to Syracuse.

According to a report from Pete Thamel of ESPN, Brown has hired Georgia defensive analyst Blaine Miller to be Syracuse’s nickels coach.

Miller joined the Georgia staff prior to the 2023 season, which was Brown’s final season at Georgia. Miller is listed as a quality control coach and worked with the inside linebackers, assisting Glenn Schumann, who is Georgia’s defensive coordinator.

Miller previously worked at Georgia as an analyst from 2016 through 2018.

Brown had a stellar first season at Syracuse, going 10-3. An upset win over Miami to end the season prevented the Hurricanes from going to the College Football Playoff.

After the upset win, Brown thanked Kirby Smart in an on-field interview.

“Hey Kirby Smart, thank you for that message earlier, Kirby. Means so much to me, Coach Smart. I appreciate you, I love you. Thank you,” Brown said.

Brown brought three former Georgia players with him to Syracuse last offseason, with wide receiver Jackson Meeks leading the team in receiving with 1, 021 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Georgia replaced Brown with Donte Williams as the team’s cornerbacks coach. The Bulldogs also replaced safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp with Travaris Robinson.

Brown helped bring a number of key pieces to Athens, including cornerbacks Daniel Harris, Ellis Robinson and DeMello Jones. He joined the Georgia staff prior to the 2022 season after coming over from Rutgers.

Georgia went 11-3 this past season, losing in the College Football Playoff to Notre Dame. A year after losing four on-field assistants, including Brown, the Bulldogs have not yet made any changes on their coaching staff.
