ATHENS — The Georgia football 2025 schedule has been announced, with the SEC doing so on Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs already knew their opponents for next season, as the non-conference games have long been scheduled and the SEC had previously announced that the eight SEC opponents would be the same as the 2024 slate, only with the home and road games flipped.

Georgia football 2025 schedule, dates, bye weeks

  • Nov. 15: Texas, Athens
  • Nov. 22: Charlotte, Athens

Georgia’s non-conference opponents for the year are Marshall, Austin Peay, Charlotte and Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs were originally supposed to play UCLA as part of a home-and-home but that series was canceled this past summer and replaced with the home game against Marshall.

Next year’s game against Georgia Tech will be played in Mercedes-Benz Stadium while being designated as a Georgia Tech home game. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 44-42 in overtime this season.

As for the SEC slate, it figures to be a challenging set of games once again. Tennessee and Texas both made the College Football Playoff this season, while Alabama and Ole Miss narrowly missed. Auburn figures to be improved and Georgia struggled the last time it visited Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2023, winning 27-20.

The 2025 season will be the first time that Georgia ever plays Texas in Athens. The two teams have already met twice this season, with Georgia winning both games, including a thrilling 22-19 overtime victory this past weekend. Georgia and Texas could meet again in the College Football Playoff.

As for the Alabama game, it will be the first time since 2015 that the Crimson Tide visit Athens. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was still the defensive coordinator for Alabama at that point in time, as it was Mark Richt’s final season as the head coach at Georgia. Alabama won that game 38-10.

Georgia will once again have two bye weeks, with the first set for Sept. 20 and the second to take place on Oct. 25. The second bye week comes a week before Georgia’s game against Florida. The 2025 season will be the last season the rivalry game is played in Jacksonville, Fla., until 2028 as the stadium undergoes renovations.

The SEC scheduling model has come under plenty of criticism of late, including from Smart himself this past weekend.

Time will tell if the SEC considers going to a nine-game conference schedule in 2026, as that is what the Big Ten currently has. Strength of schedule was a common point of contention due to the 12-team College Football Playoff.

As for the current season, Georgia next plays on Jan. 1 in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Georgia will face the winner of Notre Dame and Indiana as a part of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.
