BATON ROUGE, La. — Georgia was far from perfect Saturday afternoon, and now the Bulldogs record will reflect that after a 36-16 loss to LSU.
The Bulldogs lost four turnovers resulting in 13 points for the Tigers, and the defense surrendered 275 yards on the ground – 5.4 yards per carry.
LSU was 4-of-4 on fourth down conversions along the way, all of them short yardage runs.
Georgia drops to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the SEC, while the Tigers improve to 6-1 and 3-1.

FOURTH QUARTER
– 3:17: Jake Fromm intercepted by John Battle at the LSU 11-yard line.
LSU 36, Georgia 16 (4:14): Nick Brossette 4-yard touchdown run. Drive: 4 plays, 77 yards, 1:42 Key play: Joe Burrow ran the ball 59 yards to give the Tigers first-and-goal at the Georgia 4-yard line. Brossette scored on the next play.
– 5:51: Georgia linebacker D’Andre Walker left the field with an apparent injury.
LSU 29, Georgia 16 (6:00): Jake Fromm 27-yard touchdown pass to Riley Ridley (Rodrigo Blankenship kick). Drive: 5 plays, 75 yards, 1:20 Key play: Fromm hit Ridley for a 35-yard completion to move Georgia into scoring position at the 27-yard line. Ridley scored on the next play.
LSU 29, Georgia 9 (7:20): Cole Tracy 30-yard field goal. Drive: 4 plays, 2 yards, 2:11
– 9:21: Mecole Hardman fumbles on the ensuing kickoff, and LSU recovers at the Georgia 14-yard line.
LSU 26, Georgia 9 (9:31): Joe Burrow 1-yard rushing touchdown (Cole Tracy kick). Drive: 6 plays, 86 yards, 2:49. Key play: Burrow completed 36-yard pass to Justin Jefferson to put LSU in the red zone. The Tigers scored two plays later.
– 12:20: Georgia got the ball on the LSU 38-yard line after a punt, but a sack and a delay of game penalty pushed the Bulldogs out of field goal range. They punted, and the Tigers took over at their own 14-yard line.
THIRD QUARTER
LSU 19, Georgia 9 (0:07): Elijah Holyfield 10-yard touchdown run. Two point conversion failed (D’Andre Swift rush to 2-yard line, tackled out of bounds). Drive: 7 plays, 75 yards, 2:53. Key play: Justin Fields came in the game and handed off to Holyfield on the zone-read. Holyfield carried the ball 13 yards to the LSU 10-yard line to make it first-and-goal.
– 1:34 – Jake Fromm threw a 24-yard pass to Demetris Robertson to the LSU 11-yard line on a flea-flicker, but Robertson bobbled the ball and the catch was overturned on review.
– 3:00: Georgia freshman quarterback Justin Fields entered game for Jake Fromm for one play, but then Fromm returns to the field.
LSU 19, Georgia 3 (3:00): Cole Tracy 24-yard field goal. Drive: 8 plays, 17 yards, 2:30.
– 5:30: Jake Fromm threw an interception to LSU DB Kristian Fulton on third-and-10 from his own 4-yard line. The play was reviewed and the ruling was upheld with no clear evidence that the ball touched the ground. LSU ball at the Georgia 23-yard line.
– 5:56: On third-and-8 at midfield, the Bulldogs tackled LSU running back Nick Brossette short of the sticks to force a fourth down. The Tigers initially lined up to go for it, but called a timeout and then elected to punt. LSU punter Josh Growden’s punt was downed at the Georgia 4-yard line.

Pregame chatter
“We know we have to bring our ‘A’ game, this is the meat of our schedule,” said senior receiver Terry Godwin, one of the three Georgia captains for this game. “We just have to be Georgia football and be who we are.”
Godwin says by his estimation, the Bulldogs have played at “probably a B-“ level, adding that “we haven’t played our best yet.”
