Georgia football enters the 2024 season as one of the top teams in the country. But it won’t be all on the shoulders of Kirby Smart to lead this team to another national championship. There will be many twists and turns along the way, with different players being asked to step up.

With that in mind, DawgNation is previewing the upcoming season, looking at the most important names, games and everything in between. Today, the DawgNation team is focused on the most important breakout player. And each DawgNation team member came up with a different selection.

Connor Riley: “It’s going to be defensive lineman Christen Miller. Georgia has a need on the defensive line for more playmakers based on what we saw in 2023. I think there’s an excellent chance that a fully healthy Miller in his third year in the program can make a big impact this year.”

Kaylee Mansell: “Anthony Evans. He’s listed as a wide receiver, but I think he’s going to break out as a punt returner. We saw what he could do last year against Alabama in the SEC championship game.”

Jeff Sentell: “Benjamin Yurosek. He was injury-plagued at Stanford and had only 16 catches last year. I think he could double that or potentially triple that for Georgia in 2024.”

Mike Griffith: “Roderick Robinson. He’s a guy I think people will be excited about it. At 240 pounds, he can move the pile. The first people hitting him at the second level aren’t going to get a clean shot. And those in the secondary aren’t going to want to tackle him.”

Miller is entering his third season at Georgia. Given some of the injuries the Bulldogs have on the defensive line, Georgia will be counting on him to deliver early in the 2024 season.

Evans may not be able to break into the top of the receiver rotation with veterans Dillon Bell, Dominic Lovett and Arian Smith. But Evans will be a key player on Georgia’s special teams, working as the punt and kick returner.

Georgia lost a ton of production with Brock Bowers off to the NFL. The Bulldogs brought back Oscar Delp, but Georgia wouldn’t have gone into the transfer portal to add Yurosek if they didn’t believe he could help.

Robinson is battling a toe injury at the moment, but his size and running style is something no one on the offense can replicate. Georgia will be counting on Robinson to gain those key first downs in short-yardage situations.
