When you recruit as well as Georgia does, opposing fan bases are going to try and find faults in your program and use them to negatively recruit against the program. For Georgia, a lot of people like to bring up the fact that the Bulldogs haven’t won a national title since 1980.
On Tuesday, an Alabama supporter tweeted out an anti-UGA comic, which featured the likeness of two 5-star recruits in Kelee Ringo and Kendall Milton. Ringo and Milton are arguably two of Georgia’s top targets, as Ringo is the No. 1 cornerback in the country and the No. 9 overall prospect. Milton is the No. 3 running back and the No. 21 overall prospect.
Both saw the comic, which insinuates that the shoulder spikes — which is given to a player who forces a turnover — is somehow the reason Georgia is getting elite recruits.
Ringo and Milton responded by laughing at just how lame the comic is.
The comic is bad on a number of levels. For starters, Kirby Smart doesn’t even black hair. Second of all, winning a national championship isn’t the only thing recruits look for in a school. As for the claim that Georgia doesn’t develop prospects under Smart, no one thought offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn was going to be a first-round draft pick, but that’s ultimately what he became. And how many non-Georgia fans saw Roquan Smith becoming the best defensive player in the country in 2017?
Not to mention that of the recruits Kirby Smart has signed, only four have gone through the NFL draft process. The narrative that Smart doesn’t develop players is going to change quickly when the likes of Jake Fromm, Andrew Thomas, D’Andre Swift and Isaiah Wilson all emerge as high round draft picks.
As for Milton and Ringo, Georgia is very much in the running to land both prospects. Ringo has made multiple visits to Georgia this offseason and is set to release his top-5 on June 27th. It would come as a major surprise if Georgia was not among Ringo’s finalists.
Milton took his official visit to Georgia this past weekend and it’s clear Smart and his staff very much impressed Milton and his family. He will take an official visit to Alabama this weekend, and is expected to make a final decision at some point in July.

“With Georgia, that was a visit where every time you get there you learn more about that place and the school and the program,” Milton said. “It has been nothing but good for me. They gave me a plan of how they would use me and the timing of everything that would be put into place. For me, with Georgia and everything that was really a special visit.”
Georgia currently has the No. 4 recruiting class in the country, with only 13 commits. The Bulldogs already have two 5-star commits in offensive tackle Broderick Jones and outside linebacker Mekhail Sherman. And because of all the program can offer, Georgia has a good chance of landing Milton and Ringo in the 2020 recruiting cycle.
