ATHENS — Georgia cornerback Nyland Green was arrested early on Wednesday morning by the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office and faces multiple felony charges, per the Athens-Clarke County jail booking recap.
Green, a freshman from Covington, Ga., faces two felony charges of carrying a weapon in a school zone and criminal damage to property (2nd degree) along with a misdemeanor charge of reckless conduct.
The incident report obtained from the University of Georgia Police Department dated Nov. 14 stated witnessed reported seeing two males arguing in front of McWhorter Hall before one of the men “dry fired” a gun in the direction of the other.
Per the incident report narrative, it was determined during the ensuing investigation that Green was in possession of a black Beretta BB gun when the reporting party saw him running with a gun after the argument.
The report also states Green was in possession of a tan Colt M45A1 BB gun on school property in his dorm room.
A subsequent report was filed on Nov. 16 pertaining to damages to a window of Busbee Hall, leading to additional warrants from Green’s arrest being issued for misdemeanor Reckless Conduct and felony Criminal Damage.
Bryant Gantt, the Georgia football director of player support and operations, was aware of the ongoing investigation and was notified on Nov. 18 of warrants pursuant to Green’s case, per the report.
Green was listed as a participant in the Bulldogs’ final home game the next day, on Saturday, Nov. 20.
The No. 1-ranked Bulldogs play at Georgia Tech at noon on Saturday in Atlanta.
Green, a former Top 100 national recruit and the Georgia Region 4-AAAAAAA Player of the Year, was an early enrollee last January.

Green has been a reserve player who appeared in games this seaosn against Vanderbilt, UAB and Charleston Southern, per his online bio, making three tackles.
While Green is not a front-line player, the Bulldogs are thin in the secondary with projected starting defensive backs Jalen Kimber and Tykee Smith having already suffered season-ending injuries.
Starting safety Christopher Smith, who had the game-winning Pick 6 in Georgia’s season-opening 10-3 win over Clemson, was not able to practice on Monday and Tuesday after missing last Saturday’s game with a knee injury.
Smart said Smith’s knee “buckled” in a non-contact drill last week, and his status remains questionable.
Green is the second Georgia player arrested in the past month. The Bulldogs sacks leader and team captain Adam Anderson was arrested on rape charges and remains suspended while out on bond.

UGA coach Kirby Smart has yet to address Green’s situation.
Green was still being held at the time of the most recent update of this publication on Wednesday on bond charges totaling $7,000.
