ATHENS — Georgia coach Kirby Smart isn’t one to dwell on negatives, but he did confess to learning a lesson from the homecoming game loss to Vanderbilt two years ago.
“The loss to Vandy was probably one of the lower points as far as the guys were tired, the guys were physically beat up,” Smart said, recalling a 17-16 upset that occurred six days after the Bulldogs played at South Carolina in a game delayed by Hurricane Matthew.
“It was after the South Carolina Sunday game, (and) a lot of guys didn’t get the recovery,” Smart said. “We tried to go out and practice Monday which was probably an error on my part. We don’t look backwards now, we look forwards.”
Georgia is expected to get its offense on track against an overmatched Commodores’ team that has struggled against the run this season.
