ATHENS – Georgia outside linebacker Damon Wilson will look to finish his career elsewhere, as he plans to enter the transfer portal.
Wilson will have two years of eligibility remaining after signing with Georgia as a 5-star player in the 2023 recruiting cycle out of Venice, Fla.
Wilson announced the news on his Instagram.
Wilson had 22 tackles and 3.0 sacks for Georgia this past season. With Mykel Williams and Chaz Chambliss both moving on to the next level, Wilson seemed like a prime candidate for more playing time in 2025.
Instead, he will look to play elsewhere.
Georgia will be incredibly thin at outside linebacker next season. Georgia could move Gabe Harris to the position, after having him play on the defensive line. Georgia liked what it saw out of Quintavius Johnson as a freshman, but he did not make any serious contributions for Georgia this season.
The Bulldogs did sign three outside linebackers in the 2025 recruiting cycle, led by 5-star Isaiah Gibson, 4-star Darren Ikinnagbon and 4-star Chase Linton. All three prospects will enroll early.
In total, Georgia has now had 10 players leave the program. Five have already found new homes as cornerback Julian Humphrey and outside linebacker Sam M’Pemba will head to Texas A&M, defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett signed with USC, inside linebacker Troy Bowles is headed to Michigan and safety Justyn Rhett is headed to Nebraska. Jackson, wide receiver Anthony Evans, quarterback Jaden Rashada and safety Jake Pope have not found homes yet.
Georgia has landed two players out of the transfer portal in Zachariah Branch and Zion Branch out of the portal.
Georgia players have until 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 7 to enter the transfer portal, as those playing in the College Football Playoff have five days to enter following the conclusion of their season.
