ATHENS — Whether the game is played, Georgia is getting its quarterbacks ready for wet conditions.
Jacob Eason and Greyson Lambert were throwing wet balls during the media viewing period of Tuesday’s practice. Managers had buckets in front of the quarterbacks, dipped the football in the bucket and then handed them to Eason and Lambert.
How did they do? The results were mixed: Eason threw a few wobbly passes, including a deep one that was well short of receiver Michael Chigbu. He had another wobbly pass that still managed to hit receiver Reggie Davis in stride, about 50 yards downfield.
Eason, who should be accustomed to rainy conditions back home in Washington state, did manage a few spirals that hit their targets. So did Lambert, who had a rough game last year against Alabama in rainy conditions.
Georgia didn’t have to simulate wet conditions during practices that week: It rained during practice. But the conditions Tuesday afternoon in Athens were breezy and balmy.
