ATHENS — Jaden Rashada’s time in Athens has come to an end it seems, with ESPN’s Pete Thamel reporting that Rashada is planning to enter the transfer portal.

Rashada transferred in from Arizona State this past offseason. He did not appear in a game this season for the Bulldogs and was the fourth-string quarterback for much of the season.

Rashada will have three years remaining at his next stop. Rashada originally signed with Florida as a 4-star recruit in the 2023 class but never made it to campus and ultimately ended up at Arizona State.

With Rashada going elsewhere and Carson Beck entering the NFL draft, Georgia is projected to have four scholarship quarterbacks on its roster next season. Gunner Stockton, who got the start in the Sugar Bowl loss to Notre Dame, will be back. Ryan Puglisi, who was ahead of Rashada on the depth chart, is expected back as well. Puglisi ascended to the No. 2 quarterback role after Beck’s season-ending injury.

“The quarterbacks, they’ve been, you know, what they’ve done all year,” Georgia offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo said when asked about Puglisi and Rashada prior to the Sugar Bowl. “They come in with the expectation that we’ve got to prepare like we’re the starter. I know I’m giving you the answer, but that’s true, what we do in our room. Now, they’ve got more opportunities because we’re down a quarterback. And with how we practice at University of Georgia, Coach Smart is going to continue to try to develop [them]. So, you know, throughout this whole bowl practice, ones, twos, and three, three groups are going. So now you’ve only got less quarterbacks repping, so those guys are getting more reps.  So they’re obviously going to help their development.

“They’re getting more reps. They’ve done a nice job. I think since day one to now, I don’t even know what day we’re on, you’ve seen good and bad every day. You’re seeing less bad and seeing more good, and they’ve got to prepare because you never know, knock on wood, what’s going to happen at any given moment for those guys to prepare to get ready to play.”

Behind those two, Georgia signed Ryan Montgomery and Hezekiah Millender as members of the 2025 recruiting cycle. Montgomery is a 4-star prospect from Ohio, while Millender played at Clarke Central in Athens, Ga., as a senior.

In total, Georgia has now had 8 players leave the program. Five have already found new homes as cornerback Julian Humphrey and outside linebacker Sam M’Pemba will head to Texas A&M, defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett signed with USC, inside linebacker Troy Bowles is headed to Michigan and safety Justyn Rhett is headed to Nebraska. Jackson, wide receiver Anthony Evans and safety Jake Pope have not found homes yet.

Georgia players have until 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 7 to enter the transfer portal, as those playing in the College Football Playoff have five days to enter following the conclusion of their season.
