ATLANTA — The status of receiver Shakenneth Williams remains unresolved as Georgia nears the beginning of preseason practice, according to head coach Kirby Smart.
Williams missed spring practice with what Smart termed as injuries. He instead acted as a student coach, working with the receivers. Williams, who didn’t have a catch last season, has 4 career catches for a total of 71 yards.
At the time Smart said that Williams “may or may not” return to the team as a player.
“Hopefully we’ll have something soon on that. Nothing’s finalized yet,” Smart said before a donor event in Atlanta. “So he’s still kind of figuring out what he’s going to be able to do.”
Georgia’s first preseason practice will be on July 31.
