ATHENS — Former Georgia football fan-favorite Mecole Hardman helped get the 2020 NFL season kicked off right last Thursday with a hilarious stadium arrival outfit that somehow seemed just right for the occasion.
It was the quarantine version of Hardman, apparently, as he arrived in a bath robe, bunny slippers, a Teddy Bear and a mask before Kansas City’s opened the season on Thursday night against Houston.
It was a relatively quiet night for Hardman, who had one catch for 6 yards and a kid return for 20 yards in the Chiefs’ 34-20 win over the Texans.
But there are plenty of other former Bulldogs’ stars ready to make some noise in the NFL this season with 32 UGA players on active NFL 53-man rosters, and another 15 scattered around the league on practice squads.
A look at the breakdown reflects 10 former Georgia football receivers and 10 former linebackers, with seven former Bulldogs’ on defensive lines and another seven on offensive lines.
There are five former Georgia players on the Chicago Bears, and four with New England, Detroit and the Los Angeles Rams, per the list put together by the UGA sports information department and distributed.
