ATHENS — Kirby Smart said he had a plan in case SEC coaches would be allowed to attend satellite camps. One part of the plan is now known.
But this one, at least, won’t be very far away.
Georgia coaches will attend a camp hosted by the Minority Coaches of Georgia Association in Stockbridge from June 9-10. Prospects from classes 2017 through 2021 will be in attendance at the camp, which will be at Woodland-Henry High School, about 70 miles from Athens.
While it’s not a long distance — Big Ten schools have scheduled camps in the Atlanta area and throughout the southeast — it still would have been prohibited by the SEC under its soon to be rescinded rule. The SEC will let its satellite camp ban expire on May 29.
The coaches association announced the camp on its Twitter account Thursday evening, a few hours after the NCAA rescinded its short-lived ban on satellite camps.
