ATHENS — Georgia linebacker Natrez Patrick was arrested in Barrow County on an unspecified misdemeanor late on Saturday night, after his team’s win in the SEC championship, according to the county’s jail web site.
There was no immediate word from the detention center on the nature of the charges, or from UGA on whether it could confirm anything.
Patrick started at inside linebacker and had three tackles in Georgia’s 28-7 win over Auburn, which gave the Bulldogs their first SEC championship in 12 years and presumably a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Patrick has been arrested twice in the past three years, including earlier this season, on marijuana possession charges. He was suspended four games this season after his second arrest, and for one game as a freshman.
According to Barrow County arrest record, Patrick was arrested an unspecified misdemeanor at 11:50 p.m. on Saturday night. He was booked at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Bond was set at $1,030.
Barrow County is adjacent to Clarke County, where Athens is located. The football team returned to Athens on Saturday night, bussing back from the championship game, which began at 4 p.m.
