ATHENS — The Bulldogs have one final practice before fall camp wraps up, as classes begin tomorrow for Georgia.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart provided an update on how healthy his team is as it exits its most physical stretch of practices for the year.

The biggest injury to note is in regards to center Jared Wilson, as he deals with an Achilles injury. Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo had previously mentioned that Georgia had been holding Wilson out of some drills.

“Jared’s doing well. He’s been dealing with Achilles tendinitis,” Smart said. “He’s been great. He’s worked on the side. He’s been able to push, was able to do some things yesterday. He continues to ramp up his exposure and ramp up his reps.”

Smart noted that Wilson was able to do more on Monday.

With Wilson limited, Tate Ratledge has taken more reps at the center position. Ratledge is Georgia’s normal starting right guard, which means his move to center puts Dylan Fairchild and Micah Morris at the two guard spots.

Behind Ratledge on the depth chart is Drew Bobo.

On the defensive side of the ball, Smart did indicate that defensive tackle Jordan Hall suffered a stress fracture of his tibia after previously having surgery on a tibia fracture on his other leg.

“He is now dealing with the exact same thing in the other leg,” Smart said. “The other leg had the same thing, it was strange for it to occur but he didn’t acknowledge it until he started running to get back from the first one. We had to fix the other one. He’s on a good timeline, it’s not a long term deal, and now he knows what to expect because he’s had it done to the left and the right. He had the other one fixed. He’s going to be back. We don’t know the exact timeline for that but he’s been in good spirits.”

Warren Brinson is still recovering from an Achilles injury as well, but he is in much better shape to play against Clemson than Hall. With Brinson and Hall limited, Christen Miller has seen an uptick in snaps and usage on Georgia’s defensive line.

Inside linebacker Smael Mondon has been ramping up his workload ahead of the opener as he continues to recover from a foot injury. There is also the question of if Mondon will be able to play in the opener against Clemson due to a possible suspension following a July driving arrest.

Behind Mondon, Georgia has CJ Allen, Raylen Wilson and Jalon Walker at the position. Redshirt freshman Troy Bowles has also had a strong camp at the position.

Chaz Chambliss has also been dealing with a hamstring injury, though he continues to make progress and was able to do more on Monday.

“Chaz is dealing with a soft-tissue hamstring he’s dealt with before,” Smart said. “He’s been able to do some things too. He did more yesterday and will do more today.”

Smart said running back Roderick Robinson was dealing with a toe injury.

Georgia opens the 2024 season in just under three weeks, as the Bulldogs open against Clemson. The game is set for a noon ET start.
