ROSWELL, Ga. — After working out during the morning session of the Georgia football camp on June 3, Leonard Warner stuck around Athens for the afternoon period.

He’s glad he did, as it included a little one-on-one time with Kirby Smart, who told the 4-star outside linebacker from Brookwood High School (Snellville, Ga.) how much of a priority he is to the Bulldogs.

“Me and Coach Smart had a good talk about commitment time and how I am a priority for them,” Warner told DawgNation. “He would rather have me sign than have some other linebackers sign. He doesn’t want to wait and lose all of us. There are a lot of logistics that go on with that kind of stuff.”

Georgia is the only SEC team in his top five, which also includes Georgia Tech, Florida State, Stanford and Duke, but several other teams around the country are still gunning for the 6-foot-4, 219-pound linebacker.

Ohio State was in Georgia on Thursday hosting a satellite camp at Central Gwinnett High School, and coach Urban Meyer sought out the nation’s No. 15 outside linebacker. Warner said the two talked for a while, and Meyer is trying to get him up to Ohio for a visit.

While the Buckeyes and Georgia Tech have contacted him the most as of late, one SEC school has pretty much shut off communication.

Warner took an unofficial visit to Alabama in April, but he hasn’t heard from the Crimson Tide recently.

“From my understanding they are kind of full on linebackers,” Warner said. “I am still interested but maybe a little less than other schools.”

Warner, who is ranked as the state of Georgia’s No. 23 player, plans to make a commitment before the start of his senior season.
