Nick Chubb and Sony Michel are melting hearts on Saturday in Athens.
Back in Sanford Stadium for G-Day, two of Georgia’s all-time leading rushers showed just how close they are as friends. Chubb wore Michel’s No. 1 jersey, while Michel wore Chubb’s customary 27.
The fashion choices made for some heartwarming photos that you just can’t help but to smile at:
“I’m a big fan of Nick Chubb,” Sony Michel joked with ESPN’s Maria Taylor from the sidelines during the first quarter. “So I have to represent.”
Chubb also responded with a laugh as to his reasoning for rocking Michel’s jersey.
“I’m wearing the best athlete jersey, the No. 1!” Chubb said.
Both Michel and Chubb emphasized the family they built during their Georgia careers, especially during their senior season in Athens, saying they’d be brothers for life.
“We brought Georgia football back,” Chubb said.
It has to be wonderful for Georgia fans to see Chubb and Michel back smiling in Athens, especially after their season ended with the Bulldogs’ heartbreaking loss in the national title game. One of the lasting images from that game was Chubb and Michel in tears on the sideline as the confetti fell.
I think we can agree that these photos make us all feel better than that one from January.
