Former Georgia star Nick Chubb is back on the comeback trail, running full speed and cutting in the Cleveland Browns’ training camp, per a Cleveland.com report.

Chubb, who ranks second all-time on the UGA career rushing yardage list (4,769 yards, 2014-17) behind collegiate football all-time great Herschel Walker (5,259 yards, (1980-82), suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers the second game of last season.

The injury -- consisting of torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and MCL (medial collateral ligament) — required two surgeries and was on the same left knee Chubb had hurt in a 2015 game his sophomore season at UGA in a game against Tennessee.

Chubb famously came back from that injury, in which he damaged his media capsule and meniscus, to rush for 1,130 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2016 and another 1,345 yards and 15 touchdowns in helping to lead UGA to a Rose Bowl win and an appearance in the CFP Championship Game against Alabama.

Cleveland Browns’ and Georgia football fans are hoping the 28-year-old Chubb can stage yet another remarkable comeback this season.

Chubb had posted four-straight 1,000-yard seasons with the Browns before suffering the knee injury last season.

Chubb had rushed for a career-high 1,525 yards in 2023, also setting a career-high with 13 touchdowns, bringing about great expectations for the 2024 campaign.

“My whole goal is to get back out there,” Chubb said in a ClevelandBrowns.com interview earlier this offseason.

“It’s not the first time someone has counted me out. So, I’ve been here before and I’m not really paying much attention to it, but I do see it and I’m just focusing on getting better.”

Chubb, who is on Cleveland’s active PUP (physically unable to perform) list, could be eligible to play in the Browns’ Sept. 8 season-opening home game with Dallas.
