Georgia has a surprise visitor on campus this weekend.
Alex Leatherwood — a 5-star Alabama commit from Pensacola, Fla. — is in Athens on an official visit, a source confirmed with DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell.
Leatherwood has been committed to the Crimson Tide since June 2015, and also took an unofficial visit to Georgia on Oct. 15 for the Vanderbilt game.
Since the college football season started in September, the 6-foot-6, 327-pound recruit has also taken visits to Texas, Auburn, Michigan and Alabama.
Georgia currently holds commitments from four offensive linemen including 4-star tackles Andrew Thomas and D’Antne Demery, and guards Netori Johnson (4-star) and Justin Schaffer (3-star).
The Bulldogs holds 18 commitments in their 2017, and picked up pledges from two 4-star prospects on Thursday in wide receiver Jeremiah Holloman and defensive end Malik Herring.
Leatherwood will sign his papers to his school of choice on Dec. 16.
He is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 overall offensive tackle, the state of Florida’s No. 1 overall prospect and the nation’s No. 6 overall player.
