McEachern High School has at least five players with UGA scholarship offers, including two that have committed to the Bulldogs in quarterback Bailey Hockman and defensive tackle Julian Rochester.
Jaytlin Askew is hoping to become the next McEachern player to earn UGA’s attention.
The 4-star cornerback told the AJC over the weekend that Ole Miss, Florida State, Tennessee, UGA and Alabama, among others, have been in contact with him since Sept. 1.
The 5-foot-9, 170-pound junior, who transferred to McEachern this year, appears to be high on the Rebels, a school he unofficially visited in May. But of the five schools he mentioned, only FSU has offered. Askew hopes that’ll change in the coming months, starting with UGA.
“UGA is always around us, of course, because we have so many recruits with UGA,” Askew said. “(Conversations have) been great. I’m hoping I can further that relationship with them.”
Askew tells the AJC that he plans to take unofficial visits this fall to a few schools close in proximity to Georgia.
He is rated as the state’s No. 35 player for 2017.
