BRADENTON, Fla. — Drake Davis isn’t wasting time to announce his commitment.

Davis, a 4-star wide receiver from IMG Academy, told the AJC on Sunday morning that he may announce his college destination next week.

“I just want to secure my spot and I kind of have a good feeling of where I want to go,” Davis said.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder has a top three of Ole Miss, LSU and Texas A&M with Florida State and Clemson trailing those three schools.

As it stands now, it looks like it’s going to come down to Ole Miss and LSU.

“Ole Miss has done the best job of recruiting me, but when I got my offer from LSU, they definitely stepped it up,” he said.

One of the reasons why he is so high on Ole Miss is because of his IMG Academy quarterback Shea Patterson. Patterson is the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the country, and Davis says he could see them continuing to build a relationship in college.

“Shea’s a great guy,” Davis said. “That’s one of the guys I want to play for. We have each other’s back and we are great friends.”

Davis, who is originally a Louisiana native, also said Ole Miss crept ahead of LSU because they showed him more love.

“Ole Miss offered me before LSU, so I was like “I can’t waste my time because I need to do what I need to do to go to college,” so I put Ole Miss first because they showed the most interest.”

He plans on contacting the coaches at each school to find out how they are going to make him better for the NFL before he commits. Davis never really had much contact with UGA.
