Will Christmas now come late for DawgNation? Or will it arrive for perhaps another school among those favored for 5-star Jamaree Salyer?

That currently appears to be the case. (Editor’s note: Sayler has opted against delaying his school choice and now plans to sign on Dec. 20.)

Salyer, the nation’s No. 1 offensive guard prospect for 2018, seemed ready to make his decision on the first day of the early signing period next week. The 5-star recruit, along with several other top Georgia prospects, were set to make their decisions on Dec. 20 from the popular Sports and Social restaurant and social lounge at the Battery Atlanta near SunTrust Park.

A source close to that situation has told DawgNation that decision day for Salyer now will be Feb. 7.

Salyer has been and will continue to be as vital as any other 2018 prospect to the Georgia recruiting effort in 2018.

The 247Sports composite ranking also lists Salyer as the nation’s No. 10 overall prospect for 2018.

The 6-foot-4, 340-pound player has not named any finalists. But his decision is expected to come down to Clemson and Georgia.

Look for Salyer to be in Athens this weekend on an official visit, along with a crowded campus of 5-stars who are seriously considering UGA.

The U.S. Army All-American was named the top offensive lineman at Nike’s prestigious The Opening prospect showcase in Oregon this summer.

He also was a rare junior-year invitee to the event in 2016, and he was named among the top 5 linemen at that year. That also came while competing against the nation’s top prospects in the Class of 2017.
