SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Isaac Nauta, the nation’s No. 1 tight end for the Class of 2016, chose UGA over Alabama and Michigan on Saturday afternoon. He made his announcement during the fourth quarter of NBC’s national broadcast of the 2016 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
The Dacula resident is rated as a 5-star prospect and as the nation’s No. 9 overall prospect by the 247sports composite ranking. The 6-foot-4, 244-pounder de-committed from Florida State this summer and did not name a leader until committing to UGA on Saturday.
Nauta has already applied for admission at UGA and will enroll early on Jan. 11. He told DawgNation.com earlier this week that he will also try to see if he can walk on for the baseball team. He said his best fastball was clocked at 90 miles per hour back during his freshman year of high school at Buford.
The all-around talent moved away to Florida’s IMG Academy for his senior season.
