ATLANTA, Ga. — Jamaree Salyer might have gotten the feeling about what he was going to do earlier this year.
It was finally firm about a month ago. The nation’s No. 1 offensive guard prospect (247Sports Composite) made that choice known on Wednesday. The first day of the early signing period came with a 5-star dose of drama for both Clemson and Georgia.
Salyer named those schools as his finalists earlier today.
“I’m very excited to take this step and move on to the next phase of my college career,” he said.
Salyer told DawgNation that his choice was probably Clemson earlier this year. But that doesn’t matter anymore on Dec. 20.
Where is he going to go play college ball? How much do you know about Suge Knight? His commitment video below from Cox Media Group’s DieHards Studios might just be a rare reveal that fans of his new team will want to watch over and over again.
The 4-year starter at Pace Academy rates as the nation’s No. 1 offensive guard prospect for 2018 and as the No. 10 overall prospect for 2018.
The now 6-foot-4.5, 340-pounder is a U.S. Army All-American. The multiple All-State team selection has won a state championship, been named to the prestigious Nike “The Opening” two times and was named the most outstanding offensive lineman at that even this past summer.
“He’s the best high school lineman I have ever seen,” Pace Academy coach Chris Slade said.
He does not plan to enroll early. What motivates him? Just check the top of his Twitter account.
The 5-star prospect is just trying to buy his momma a house.
DawgNation projects Salyer to be a first-year starter during his freshman year. He seems more than ready to step right in and play early.
Salyer will also be a strong student in the classroom.
