Kirby Smart made William Poole III a priority when he hit the road after he fulfilled his duties at Alabama. When Smart was just the head coach at UGA, Poole was the first recruit he visited on his January road trips.

Well, that continues to pay off. The Atlanta resident took an important unofficial visit to UGA this weekend and politely refrained from doing any media regarding his thoughts on his trip.

But Poole did share a big nugget across social media on Wednesday night. Poole named his final two schools. His decision will come down to UGA and Florida.

That falls in line with what he was thinking back in January after Smart came to see him. Poole told DawgNation his leading schools at the time were UGA and Florida and those schools retained that status.

Poole also sent out another tweet which hints his decision might come on March 12. That’s his birthday. He then went back and deleted those tweets.

SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi spoke to Poole’s father on Wednesday night. His father didn’t hide the fact he hoped his son would choose UGA.

“He’s been talking to Florida on the phone,” Poole told SEC Country. “We were supposed to go down there for a visit, but we had some family stuff come up so we never did. Part of the reason is because that was during the time they had gotten rid of the defensive backs coach and they hadn’t put anybody in place yet, so there really was no need to go talk about football anyway.

“But as far as the school itself, I really don’t know much about it. They’ll have to sell it to him. I’m not the one making the decision. That’s pretty much on him with Florida. I really don’t have much to say about it. I told him if he went there I’d root for them because he’s my son, but when I get back home I’m putting my Georgia stuff back on.”

The Hapeville Charter standout measured six feet tall and weighed 176 pounds at the Rising Seniors event in December. He’s rated as the nation’s No. 10 cornerback and No. 85 overall prospect for the Class of 2017.
