Do stars matter? Not in every case. Examples like JUCO product Aaron Rodgers, 2-star 2-star J.J. Watt or 2-star Russell Wilson are out there. That said, the services did nail 5-star projections like Nick Chubb, Vernon Hargreaves III, A.J. Green and Julio Jones, too.

The better topic is how do SEC schools reel in those stars compared to their league rivals. That’s a different measure of the aptitude of the recruiting machines at each school. High school practices are starting up and its a good time for a heat check to see how UGA’s recruiting for the Class of 2016 stacks up compared to its league brothers.

We’ll track just a few things: 1) Number of commitments; 2) Number of 5-star recruits; 3) Number of 4-star recruits; 4) Number of 3-star recruits. We’ll use the 247sports composite as a baseline of ratings across all the major recruiting services as our guidepost.

Short. Simple. That’s it.
