Cross off one option for filling UGA’s needs on the offensive line. Jawaan Taylor, a 3-star offensive guard, has opted not to take an official visit to UGA this weekend.
Taylor, a Florida commitment, received an offer last week from UGA offensive line coach Sam Pittman and at the time he felt he might take an official visit to UGA this weekend.
“It means a lot to get an offer from the University of Georgia,” Taylor said on Jan. 20.
The Cocoa, Fla., resident took his official visit to Florida on Jan. 15. He feels that visit ultimately showed him where he needed to be.
“I just closed down all recruitment because my heart is set on Florida,” said Taylor, who aims to major in sports broadcasting.
The three-star prospect is committed to Florida and is rated the nation’s No. 47 guard for the Class of 2016. He’s got all the size at 6 feet, 5 inches and 330 pounds.
“I just sat down with my parents yesterday and decided to (do) it,” Taylor said. “Because (Florida) is just the place for me. When I made my decision, I think about distance, too. I want my parents to be able to see me play on Saturdays with no problems. So it is the best fit for me.”
The Cocoa, Fla., native de-committed from Miami and quickly flipped to Florida in late November. Unless otherwise indicated, player rankings and ratings are from the 247Sports Composite.
