Jacob Eason, the 5-star UGA quarterback commitment, is at Florida this week on an official visit. Eason would have never taken that visit if UGA had not fired Mark Richt as head coach.
According to a Rivals.com report, look for those two guys to meet up again at least one more time on the recruiting trail. Matt Shoddell of Canesport.com reported there’s a good possibility Eason will take an official visit to Miami to check out Richt’s new team.
UPDATE: DawgNation has new information from Eason’s actual quarterback trainer
Reports surfaced early Wednesday evening that Richt had agreed to take over as head football coach at Miami, his alma mater. That would mean there might be two Florida contenders hoping to flip Eason away from UGA.
Taylor Barton, Eason’s personal quarterback coach, feels Eason will “for sure” take a look at Miami because of his close personal relationship with Richt. The article states Barton last spoke with Eason over the weekend, but acknowledges Richt and his offensive philosophy were a major factor in why Eason chose UGA.
Baron also said Miami was one of Eason’s finalists before he committed to UGA in July of 2014.
Is there a big chance of Eason flipping to another school? DawgNation spoke to his high school football coach on Tuesday and his message was that UGA fans shouldn’t stress too much about Eason going anywhere — at least for now — other than UGA when he enrolls in January.
