Wanna know some insider stuff on Louisiana 4-star offensive tackle Willie Allen? UGA desperately wants to add Allen to its 2016 class. DawgNation learned Friday night there’s a recruiter who is working hard to entice Allen to join him in the SEC.
That guy’s name in Ben Cleveland. That’s UGA commitment Ben Cleveland. Cleveland, a 4-star offensive tackle in his own right, said his work on adding another bookend offensive tackle is going well. Real well.
“Willie Allen is who I am going after right now,” Cleveland said. “I talk to him just about every day. Every other day. Something like that. We got him on the right track right now. I am hoping we are going to be able to set the hook and reel him in.”
Cleveland — who like Allen is also right at 6-foot-7 — said that Allen is a “good ‘ol country boy who loves to hunt and fish,” and the two have a lot of common ground.
The Stephens County standout was asked if he felt that UGA was in a good spot with Allen right now, according to everything he’s heard in their regular conversations. His answer was clear.
“Most definitely,” Cleveland said.
If those labors bear fruit, then DawgNation will love Cleveland before he buckles his chin strap for his first snap inside Sanford Stadium. Allen is rated as the No. 10 offensive tackle in the nation this year.
