AMITE CITY, La. — UGA commit Devonta Smith lives about 15 minutes from one of the Bulldogs’ top targets on defense.
Smith, a 4-star wide receiver from Amite High School (La.), is working hard on getting 4-star defensive back Shyheim Carter, from Kentwood, La., to commit to UGA.
“I think (UGA) has a really good chance with him and if that’s where he goes, then I’d be very excited that he chose it,” Smith told the AJC’s DawgNation.com.
When asked to put a percentage on UGA’s chances of landing Carter, Smith said ‘75 percent.’
One of the reasons for that is his relationship with UGA director of player personnel Sam Petito, who Carter considers a father-figure.
Carter is also considering Ole Miss Alabama, Michigan, USC and Oregon.
In the video above, Smith answers the following questions:
1) Has Carter given any indication that he will commit to UGA? 2) Is Smith working on getting any other players committed to UGA? 3) Where are Carter and Smith planning on visiting together?
