Elijah Holyfield, one of the stars in this year’s UGA recruiting class, will miss four to six weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot.

The 4-star running back from Woodward Academy told the AJC’s DawgNation.com on Friday that he suffered the injury in his team’s game against St. Pius on Sept. 4.

“I cut and my ankle rolled,” Holyfield said. “I tried to come back right after. When I went in motion, it just gave out. I went to the sidelines and got it taped and played the rest of the game. It hurt all game and the next week, too, but this week it kept hurting and my mom was worried, so she finally took me to the doctor.”

Holyfield finished the game against St. Pius with 183 yards and four touchdowns all while having a stress fracture in his foot. He played the following week, too, and rushed for 178 yards and scored two touchdowns in just one half of work.

Despite his injury timetable, a source close to Woodward Academy says it’s possible that Holyfield sees the field before four to six weeks.

Holyfield, who is the son of boxing legend Evander Holyfield, committed to UGA over Auburn earlier this month.
