One of Kirby Smart’s off field coaches, or analysts, has turned his time at Georgia into a full-time coaching job.
Per coachingsearch.com‘s Chris Vannini, special teams analyst James Vollono will be leaving Georgia and joining Florida International’s coaching staff as a special teams coordinator. FIU hired Butch Davis as its head coach earlier in 2016.
Vollono spent one season in Athens, but has past stops at Mississippi State, Colorado, North Carolina and Towson. He joins another Georgia assistant at the school, as former quality control coach Kevin Beard is the wide receivers coach with the Panthers.
The Bulldogs ended Kirby Smart’s first season with a win, as the Bulldogs beat TCU 31-23 in the Liberty Bowl. Smart went 8-5 in his first season as head coach.
