Two more Georgia Bulldogs have been arrested on reckless driving charges, as inside linebacker Smael Mondon was arrested on Wednesday night and offensive lineman Bo Hughley was arrested on Tuesday night, according to the Athens Clarke County arrest logs.
Mondon was booked at 11:05 p.m. on Wednesday night morning on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and racing on highways/streets. Mondon posted $26 bail at 12:25 a.m. Thursday morning.
Hughley was booked at 8:37 p.m. on Tuesday night and released on bond at 10:18 p.m. Hughley’s bond was also $26. He was charged with failure to maintain lane/improper driving on the road and reckless driving, both of which were misdemeanors.
With the arrests of Hughley and Mondon, Georgia now has had four driving-related arrests this offseason, with running back Trevor Etienne being arrested in March. Etienne recently had his case resolved, with the most serious of his offenses dismissed. Wide receiver Sacovie White was also arrested in May on a reckless driving charge.
The Bulldogs had several driving-related arrests last offseason, including Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Jalen Carter, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint and De’Nylon Morrissette. Georgia staffer Jarvis Jones was also arrested on reckless driving charges as well in 2023. Rosemy-Jacksaint and Morrissette both missed the first game of the 2023 season following their arrests.
Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock and staffer Chandler LeCroy also tragically lost their lives in an automobile accident in January 2023.
Mondon is a senior from Dallas, Ga., and is expected to start at inside linebacker for Georgia this season. Mondon was second on the team in tackles last season with 68. Behind Mondon, Georgia does have CJ Allen, Raylen Wilson and Jalon Walker. All will play key roles for Georgia this season.
Hughley redshirted in his first year with the team. The 6-foot-7 offensive tackle is from Fairburn, Ga.
Georgia has not officially commented on the matter at this point in time. Georgia coach Kirby Smart is next set to meet with reporters on Tuesday at SEC media days in Dallas.
