Vince Dooley will now be throwing out his ceremonial first pitch under the Wrigley field lights instead of the heat of a Chicago day.

The Cubs game against the Brewers on Sept. 8 will now begin at 7p.m. CT instead of the originally scheduled 1:20p.m. CT, a rarity as Friday is almost always reserved for a day game during the regular season.

The Cubs are honoring Dooley as part of a whole weekend of events surrounding the Notre Dame vs. Georgia game on Sept. 9. Dooley’s team took down the Fighting Irish to win the National Championship in 1980.

There will be plenty of red and black in the stands, too. More than 2,000 UGA fans have bought tickets to the Cubs game. On Saturday Sept. 9, more than 50 buses will make their way from Chicago to South Bend to see Georgia and Notre Dame square off.

Monday will mark Dooley’s 85th birthday. He compiled a 201-77-10 record with the Bulldogs and finished ranked inside the AP top 25 some 12 times while coaching in Athens.
