Good morning. A new day means another rep of a UGA football feature called the Cover 4. DawgNation has four staffers who cover the team from every angle: Beat, hybrid roles, live streams, photos, podcasts, recruiting, etc. The Cover 4 aim is simple: 1) Present a topic; 2) Offer a reasoned response; 3) Share a brisk statement to support the informed opinion.
The press core grinds away every day in August. What is the hot subject each day? The guys at every site and media outlet do a very good job at reporting that.
Injuries? Quarterbacks? Depth chart risers? Breakouts? Where is the team thin right now? Trash talkers? Who are the new team leaders? The next big thing at Georgia?
Those storylines all receive their just due. But is there any aspect of fall camp and the football program that isn’t getting the focus it should?
That is the Cover 4 offering for today. Let’s line up our DawgNation guys to blanket that topic.

Which storyline is flying under-the-radar?
Brandon Adams: Can Isaiah Wilson play as well in his second year as Andrew Thomas did in his first year?
Why: Thomas locked down the RT spot last fall, but now shifts to LT to replace Isaiah Wynn. The former 5-star wasn’t quite ready last year. Is Isaiah Wilson ready now?
Chip Towers: Andrew Thomas moving to left tackle.
Why: Isaiah Wynn played at a level last year that was off the charts, hence his NFL first-round draft selection by the Patriots. No guarantee Thomas can match that in his first year of transition from the right side. Odds are better that he can’t.
Mike Griffith: Playing a cut-blocking non-conference opponent before the SEC title game every year.
Why: Because of “tradition,” which is not a good enough reason to conclude each regular season against an unorthodox [option] offense with dangerous blocking techniques.
Jeff Sentell: Matthew Downing as the No. 3 QB
The 1-sentence why: If something happens to Fromm or Fields, the backup for a title contender will be a preferred walk-on. He had a 48:8 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his last two years of varsity ball, but that guy will need a lot of practice reps to prepare for that role.
