ATHENS — Georgia’s home schedule for the 2018 season is apparently set, with a non-Power 5 team added as the season opener.
Austin Peay, an FCS team, will be visiting Sanford Stadium on Sept. 1, according to a release on the school’s web site. That will give Georgia seven home games in 2018.
Non-conference games against Middle Tennessee (on Sept. 15) and UMass (Nov. 17) were previously announced, in addition to Georgia Tech (Nov. 24).
There are also three SEC home games: Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Auburn. Those dates have not been announced yet.
“Having seven home games will be great for our team, community, and fans,” head coach Kirby Smart said in a statement. “A mix of outstanding conference teams, a traditional rival, and out of conference teams we seldom play will make for an attractive season schedule.”
