Take a moment to relive UGA fans’ takeover of Vanderbilt Stadium

Georgia fans have developed a strong reputation in recent seasons. Starting with the first DawgNation Invasion in South Bend, Ind. in 2017, UGA fans have shown up in huge numbers for away games.

On Saturday, Vanderbilt Stadium became the latest venue taken over by Bulldogs fans. That’s the subject of this edition of DN90.

The national media certainly took notice of all the red and black in the stadium, and UGA coach Kirby Smart offered his thanks to fans after the game.

The energy from the crowd is also something UGA players said the fed off of during the game.

“It feels like a home game every time we go somewhere,” Bulldogs running back Brian Herrien said after the game.

UGA will have a few more opportunities to attempt stadium takeovers this season. The Bulldogs will play at Tennessee Oct. 5, and good seats are expected to be available based on the Vols’ showing this past Saturday.

After that, UGA’s next true road game will be Nov. 16 at Auburn, a matchup that should make for a much tougher ticket. Then the Bulldogs will close the regular season at Georgia Tech on Nov. 30 — a stadium that has been taken over a few times by UGA fans in the past, and a spot in which the Bulldogs haven’t lost since 1999.

The impressive traveling party following the Bulldogs stands as a symbol for the excitement fans feel about the current state of the program. It seems they believe the era ushered in by the hiring of Smart is a second golden age for the program, and it seems they don’t want to miss a minute of the action.
