ATHENS — The Georgia football team has 1 more week of spring practice, and the injury report, and number of players who might not appear on G-Day, is growing.
Sophomore tight end Isaac Nauta “dinged” his shoulder during the team’s scrimmage on Saturday, according to coach Kirby Smart. The extent of the injury is unknown.
“I’m not real sure exactly what it is yet, but he’s going to get X-rays on it,” Smart said.
Fellow tight end Jeb Blazevich, a rising senior, sprained his knee, but Smart said he wasn’t as concerned about it.
Freshman defensive back Deangelo Gibbs, who injured his shoulder early in practice Thursday, is “day-to-day”, per Smart.
“He may be back by the end of the spring, I’m not sure yet,” Smart said.
The same goes for redshirt freshman offensive lineman Ben Cleveland, whose injury wasn’t disclosed, but was held out of the scrimmage Saturday, according to Smart.
One player who appears to be fine is senior safety Dominick Sanders. He was able to participate in the scrimmage. Sanders sprained his knee last Saturday, and while he was at practice Tuesday in a regular jersey, he was absent during the media viewing period on Thursday.
