ATLANTA — Georgia tailback Sony Michel left the SEC Championship Game with a left knee injury, and coach Kirby Smart wasn’t immediately sure of the severity.

Michel was due to get an MRI, according to Smart, who did say that the senior was “OK” but that they weren’t sure about the exact nature of the injury.

“It was bothering him a little bit. I’m not sure if he got hit on it or twisted it,” Smart said after Georgia’s 28-7 win over Auburn in the SEC title game. “I don’t know much information right now. We’re still gathering some.”

Michel left in the third quarter and after leaving the medical sideline tent was seen walking around. He finished the game with 45 rushing yards on 7 carries and 38 receiving yards on 2 catches.

That wasn’t the only injury in the game for Georgia, which Smart afterward called “a beat-up football team.”

Senior cornerback Malkom Parrish sat out the game with an undisclosed injury. Smart said Parrish was injured during the week in practice.

Senior fullback Christian Payne also missed the game with an undisclosed injury. (When the team hasn’t disclosed injuries this year, they’ve tended to be concussions.)

Senior nose tackle John Atkins left the game with a knee injury, but was able to return for the start of the second half and finished the game.
