ATLANTA – Georgia evidently will have to beat Georgia Tech without one of its most dynamic players.

Receiver and kick returner Isaiah McKenzie is not on the travel roster. McKenzie hurt his foot in last Saturday’s win over Georgia Southern and while he didn’t practice earlier in the week, coach Mark Richt said Wednesday there was still a chance the sophomore could play on Saturday.

McKenzie has three touchdowns in Georgia’s past two games: Two on offense (runs on sweeps) and one on a punt return at Auburn.

Considering the struggles of Georgia’s offense, the loss of McKenzie is a potentially big one for the Bulldogs.

Defensive lineman Trent Thompson, who missed the Georgia Southern game with ankle problems, is on the travel roster. So is guard Greg Pyke, who missed the game with a knee injury.

Of course that doesn’t guarantee that either will play: Nick Chubb is on the travel roster despite being out for the year with a knee injury. So it’s more notable when a player isn’t on the list.
